This job I have has taught me so much about marketing, digital marketing, targeting advertisements, social media strategy, product design, print design.
I am thinking about trying my hand at music marketing and I think all of these skills will help me. Fingers crossed.
The first time it comes out of her mouth, I’ll smile gleefully. As she repeats “No! No! No!” I’ll laugh, overjoyed. At a young age, she’ll have mastered a wonderful skill. A skill I’m still trying to learn. I know I’ll have to teach her that she has to eat her vegetables, and she has to take a nap. But “No” is not wrong. It is not disobedience.
1. She will know her feelings are valid.
2. She will know that when I no longer guide her, she still has a right to refuse.
The first time a boy pulls her hair after she says no, and the teacher tells her “boys will be boys,” we will go to her together, and explain that my daughter’s body is not a public amenity. That boy isn’t teasing her because he likes her, he is harassing her because it is allowed. I will not reinforce that opinion. If my son can understand that “no means no” so can everyone else’s.
3. She owes no one her silence, her time, or her cooperation.
The first time she tells a teacher, “No, that is wrong,” and proceeds to correct his public school, biased rhetoric, I’ll revel in the fact that she knows her history; that she knows our history. The first time she tells me “No” with the purpose and authority that each adult is entitled, I will stop. I will apologize. I will listen.
4. She is entitled to her feelings and her space. I, even a a parent, have no right to violate them.
5. No one has a right to violate them.
The first time my mother questions why I won’t make her kiss my great aunt at Christmas, I’ll explain that her space isn’t mine to control. That she gains nothing but self doubt when she is forced into unwanted affection. I’ll explain that “no” is a complete sentence. When the rest of my family questions why she is not made to wear a dress to our reunion dinner. I will explain that her expression is her own. It provides no growth to force her into unnecessary and unwanted situation.
6. She is entitled to her expression.
When my daughter leaves my home, and learns that the world is not as open, caring, and supportive as her mother, she will be prepared. She will know that she can return if she wishes, that the real world can wait. She will not want to. She will not need to. I will have prepared her, as much as I can, for a world that will try to push her down at every turn.
7. She is her own person. She is complete as she is.
I will never punish my daughter for saying no. I want “No” to be a familiar friend. I never want her to feel that she cannot say it. She will know how to call on “No” whenever it is needed, or wanted.

Summer is around the corner and most of us are trying to whip our bodies into shape and have radiating beach skin. A great way to accomplish both of those goals just in time for that summer beach trip is to eat….CARROTS! Yes, eating carrots can not only boost your immune system, lower blood pressure, prevent heart disease, prevent cancer and improve eyesight it can also give you a more healthier and attractive complexion. To quote “Your body turns beta-carotene—the main carotenoid in orange carrots—into vitamin A in the body. A small carrot supplies nearly 300 percent of your daily intake of vitamin A (4,142 micrograms of beta-carotene), so one carrot a day could take you a long way toward that healthy glow you’re going for this spring.” In addition to providing clearer skin carrots also reduce wrinkles and help keep oily skin at bay. Recent studies have found that certain foods, like dairy products and high-glycemic items, can, indeed, set the stage for more oily skin. Vitamin A, is used in many facial products one being retinoids and tretinoin, which are used topical for oily skin. Eating carrots and foods with vitamin A will surely give your skin that summer glow. Omega-3 fatty acidshelp protect skin cells against sun-induced inflammation and help control how the body responds to UV rays, thereby preventing skin damage. Omega-3 fatty acids are mostly found in seafood but they’re also found in flaxseeds and seaweed, both of which are included in this recipe. Two tablespoons of whole flaxseed contains about 2.35 grams of ALA. So you can have the benefits of salmon with all plant based ingredients.
Optional 2 tbsp of whole Flaxseed or drizzle flaxseed oil
Directions: Thinly slice your carrots horizontally. Once your carrots are cut steam carrots in skillet on low heat for 10 minutes. While your carrots are steaming add the nori, soy sauce, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, paprika, alder salt, water, garlic clove, and Gochujang Korean Chili Sauce in a blender and blend until all ingredients are watered down. The color of the mixture should be peachy or slightly red.
Once your carrots are done steaming stick a fork through one to make sure they’re soft. Put your carrots in a glass bowl and add the mixture. Put carrot mixture in the refrigerator and let the flavors marinate for at least an hour. The longer the better the flavor.
Add cream cheese (recipe for cream cheese HERE) and smoked carrot salmon, flaxseed, capers, chives and a squeeze of lemon juice on top!
We’ve already covered how versatile the cauliflower can be. Cauliflower can be made into mash potatoes, rice, pizza crust, steak, wings, in soups, pastas and salads. What we didn’t cover was how versatile our friend Mr. Garbanzo is. Garbanzo as in the chickpeas, we’ve included chickpeas/garbanzo beans in a few of our dishes. Garbanzo beans, often cooked in Mediterranean and Indian dishes is a very versatile legume. It can be used to make hummus, scramble it, add it to soups and bake it for a snack. It’s a great source of protein for us vegetarians/vegans. One cup of garbanzo beans has 39 grams of protein and it’s packed with nutrients! Today’s focus will be on garbanzo beans in it’s flour form. It serves as a healthier alternative to white flour for baked and fried dishes. This flour is different than the spelt flour we used on our cookies because garbanzo flour is gluten free. Garbanzo flour has less calories than white flour and provides more vitamin B-6, iron, magnesium, folate and potassium than coconut flour and its cohorts.
Nashville Hot Cauliflower Wings w/ Sweet potato fries
Sweet potato recipe Ingredients:
1 sweet potato
1 tbs of olive oil
½ tsp garlic powder
¼ tsp of cloves
1 grind of cracked pepper
Sprinkle of sea salt
Cauliflower batter recipe Ingredients:
1 head of cauliflower
1 cup garbanzo flour
¼ cup of water
¼ cup of veggie stock
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
½ tsp white pepper, onion powder and garlic
¼ celery salt
Cauliflower hot sauce recipe Ingredients:
½ cup Louisiana Hot Sauce
1 tbs ketchup
½ tsp garlic, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, chilli powder, ground sage, ground cumin, oregano, thyme leaves and brown sugar
Directions: Cut sweet potato into wedges or thin fries. Drizzle fries in olive oil add garlic, pepper, sprinkle of sea salt and cloves. Toss and put fries on parchment paper or a cooking tray and cook for 15-20 minutes on 400 degrees.
While the fries are cooking wash and cut your cauliflower into florets. For the batter add all the ingredients listed in the batter and stir until all lumps are gone. The consistency should be that of a sauce. Dip the cauliflower in the batter and add them to a non stick tray. Leave enough room between the cauliflowers we wouldn’t want the excess batter to connect with all the cauliflowers. Once all of the cauliflowers have been placed on the tray bake on 400 degrees for 20 minutes.
The batter should have formed a light crust over the cauliflower. In a bowl add all of the hot sauce ingredients and stir. Dip the cauliflower into the sauce and add them back to the non stick tray and cook for another 20 minutes on 400 degrees. Serve with pickle optional bread.
There’s no such thing as “can’t nobody love you like I love you” and if anyone says that to you 1. Run 2. Know that you will find love your entire life
No one can love you like they love you because they dont love you. They love the power and control they can weild over you.
One thing that happened last year: I had sex wuth a guy from my gym. Oh yeah, I was going to the gym. I stopped but I’m back on.
But back to the guy. He was really good in bed which is a given because he was 12 years older than me. But he was so negative and mean at the same time. I felt so small and unwanted by him. While beings desired. Idk. It was weird.
So despite my feelings, bc I wanted to keep fucking him, I thought for my self esteem sake - stop.
But I want dick like that this year and I want it to be plentiful. But I want the dick to be attached to a man who is crazy about me in a good way, and cares about my feelings rather than talk down to me. I want a guy who is kind but knows how to be tough with me when I need some tough love. Heh. Lol anyway. The guy— it would be great if he did music in some way - production or writing ideally. financially stable is always nice, and healthy self esteem is important. I want him to be motivational and supportive. I want him to have a sense of humor while being sensitive to my feelings. I want him to not be afraid to put his foot down if I go too far. I want him to be soft with me, though. Hard only on occasions, when I need it. Funny, woke. Passionate. Thoughtful. Compassionate to fellow humans.
I want a guy who will make me feel like water. Free to move. Powerful enough to remain resistant. And like I am irresistible satiating. Satisfying. Mmm
i want to journal and share moments of myself with my future self, but i want it to be digital so it is accessible everywhere.
so, i’m back on tumblr. for thoughts, selfies, music selections, and whatever else tickles my fancy.
this week’s energy comes from the thought that i want to stop oversharing so much. i don’t want my dreams and my beliefs to be shadowed with someone else’s fear. i don’t want to keep my dreams to myself, though - that’s the paradox. i want to share my dreams with the RIGHT ones, and keep my dreams SAFE from the wrong ones. the wrong ones are those who do not see success. in their future. in my future. if they see success, the lens is so narrow, my success can’t even be seen through their eyes. enough on them. that’s all the energy they need to receive from me.
i want to do everything i can to attract the RIGHT ones. here is what i want, and how i want to get them:
MUSIC –
what - i want to attract people who want to see me grow musically. i want to attract people who want to see themselves grow musically. i want to attract people who want to collab with myself musically. i want people who will keep my accountable with my music. i want to attract people who write and produce and sing. i want to build relationships with people who will invest in me musically. i want to develop a network of people i can go to for advice, for help, for promotion, and for appreciation of my music.
how -
going to showcases | connecting on social media | using my friends to help me develop a network…… more soon
UX –
what - i want to attract people who can help me grow as a UXer. i want to attract positions that will help me be a bomb UXer. i want to attract opportunities that allow me to explore and improve my UX background.
how - going to meetups | improving my portfolio | taking classes | going to hackathons
